Secondary School Counselor

Santiago Christian School seeks an experienced school counselor for its secondary division. The secondary school counselor plays a key role in helping the school carry out its mission to form personas íntegras, who reflect Jesus in character, wisdom, and influence. The secondary school counselor plans and organizes the delivery of the comprehensive school counseling program, including the delivery and implementation of guidance curriculum to include structured lessons and small group sessions. The secondary school counselor guides students through the development of educational plans and effectively responds to student needs through the use of individual and small group counseling, consultation, and/or referral. Candidates will support other school-wide educational programs to improve the overall success of all students.  Successful candidates are native English speakers who have excellent relational skills. Basic understanding of Spanish is helpful, but not required. Candidates must have a degree in school counseling or a related field with a US state license, as well as evidence of an evangelical Christian faith commitment. Previous international experience is a plus. Basic salary for local living is provided. The initial commitment is three years with corresponding benefits. 

Special Education Teacher

Santiago Christian School seeks an experienced Special Education Teacher who can provide research-based best practices for implementing effective support services within established guidelines and standards in the SCS Learning Support Program. The ideal candidate will love Christ, love all sorts of students, and be committed to Christian education as a vocation. Qualified candidates will be able to identify and evaluate at-risk students, communicate effectively with parents, and share expertise with teachers regarding the moderate-need students in our primarily full-inclusion model program. Successful candidates understand or have experience with English as a Second Language immersion strategies in the classroom.  Candidates must have an education degree with a U.S. state teacher certification in special education, as well as evidence of an evangelical Christian faith commitment. Two years of experience is preferred, and previous international teaching experience is a plus. Basic understanding of Spanish is helpful, but not required. 

Secondary Science Teacher

Santiago Christian School seeks an experienced science teacher to help build a STEM program that can serve as an example and resource in a country that ranks 133 out of 137 in math and science education (World Economic Forum Global Competitiveness Report, 2017-2018). Successful candidates can implement Next Generation Science Standards with hands-on inquiry-based labs and activities in areas such as biology, chemistry and physics. The science teacher will support the goal of igniting students’ passion for discovery, critical thinking, and engaging the world through science as a reflection of its Creator. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree with a U.S. state teacher certification as well as evidence of an evangelical Christian faith commitment. Two years of experience is preferred, and previous international teaching experience is a plus. Basic understanding of Spanish is helpful, but not required. 

Elementary Lead Teacher

Santiago Christian School seeks an Elementary Lead Teacher who loves students, loves Jesus, and is committed to academic excellence.  SCS understands the important role that K-6 educators have in shaping the hearts and minds of young students, and we desire individuals that are devoted to student learning.  The  individual  should  be  a  native  English  speaker  with  a  degree  in  elementary  education,  a  U.S.  state  teacher  certification,  and  evidence  of  an  evangelical  Christian  faith  commitment.  Candidates  must  be  relationally  focused  and  have  the  necessary  skills  to  work  in  a  team-based,  professional  learning  community.  Successful  candidates  understand  or  have  experience  with  English  as  a  Second  Language  immersion  strategies  in  the  classroom.  Two years of experience is preferred, and previous international teaching experience is a plus.
