Eagle's Nest

"He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart."
Psalm 91:4

About an hour from Santiago, Refugio Pinos del Cielo is the site of a very special mountain dormitory with a spacious gathering room built for Santiago Institute for Leadership and Justice activities. Located in the remote village of Palo Alto, the living is rustic and the mountain vistas are spectacular – a perfect setting for meeting God and growing in servant leadership.

At the Eagle's Nest, SCS students mark their leadership journey. Throughout middle and high school, students have multiple opportunities to return, each time deepening their understanding of God's purposes in their lives as servant leaders who practice Biblical justice. The Eagle's Nest is dedicated to God, the One who never stops Shaping the Lives of those who will Shape the Nation.

For those busy in full-time Christian ministry in Santiago, a few days at the Eagle’s Nest is a breath of fresh air. It is a special place where teachers, pastors, and missionaries can look into the vast mountains and hear from God. It is a place where priorities realign while personal goals give way to God's perfect will. Children come alive in the open air and families grow closer without their usual distractions.

Each summer, mission teams comprised of families, youth groups, college sport teams, congregations, doctors, carpenters, and high school leaders settle into the Eagle’s Nest to serve in in the community of Palo Alto. It is refreshingly quiet, safe for visitors, and full of local children who have so little. Teams of believers spend their mornings laying concrete floors in homes on dirt, installing clean water filters in homes without, delivering medical care, and doing building projects around the retreat center. In the afternoons, teams use our partner school or the local church to host Vacation Bible Schools, run sport clinics, or offer classes in things like parenting, English, and first aid.
