High School

 

Students in Middle School and High School are currently in a distance learning format.  The learning structure is modeled around best practices ensuring that students receive a quality education while online.  We aim to balance the needs of social interaction, direct teacher instruction, and student collaboration to ensure students are fully prepared for high school and beyond.  Educational theory and parent feedback have also contributed to the development of the instructional schedule.  The daily schedule for students is below:

 

• Online instruction from 8:00am-12:00pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday
• Advisory classes are scheduled during Wednesday mornings
• Students may work in small groups or individually with teachers in the afternoons (at teacher/student discretion)

 

 

Students in Middle School and High School (Grade 5 to Grade 12) utilize Google Classroom as the primary learning management system.  Assignments, quizzes, and homework submission are generally channeled through these systems.  Grading is completed by the teacher and posted in both the learning management system and the online gradebook.

 

Zoom is also the primary tool for synchronous learning activities and other live collaborative experiences.  Students receive secure links and log into their meetings at the appropriate time. The matrix listed below shows the risk level and associated responses for students, parents, and staff members during the COVID-19 crisis.  The responses have been developed in coordination with health and safety experts and follow the guidelines of leading health institutions such the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization.  Additionally, local regulations and health protocols will be followed as prescribed.
