Our full-time chaplain, who has professional training in the Bible and ministry, embodies SCS's commitment to spiritual care of students and staff. The chaplain provides leadership for all aspects of spiritual life on campus – the Bible curriculum, chapel, advisory program, Thursday Night Live, and staff devotions. The chaplain is available to meet with students or staff for individual counseling and support.
Faculty and Staff
All SCS employees have a strong profession of faith and commitment to model what it means to follow Jesus. Many are involved in campus Bible studies and other local ministries, and each attends a local church. Staff gather before school twice a week to worship and pray together. Additionally, Grace Fellowship, a Sunday-evening worship service, offers continuing spiritual growth and refreshment to SCS staff, local missionaries, and the larger expatriate community in the English language.
SCS provides many avenues for encouraging spiritual growth in students at SCS. Students learn the fundamental truths of the Christian faith and gain knowledge of God's Word through developmentally appropriate Bible classes. Community service projects at SCS partner schools encourage students to put faith into action as part of the Bible curriculum.
Every Friday, the SCS community worships together. ECE, lower elementary, upper elementary, middle school, and high school each have their own chapel programs. High school students provide leadership by planning chapels and leading worship with the chapel band. Advisory groups provide small-group settings for students and advisors to share, read the Bible, and pray together twice a week.
Thursday Night Live meets every other Thursday for food, games, a challenging devotional, and small group discussions. Many students are also involved in informal Bible studies on and off campus. When students are maturing as followers of Jesus, it is wonderful evidence that God is Shaping the Lives of those who will Shape the Nation.
